Ophthalmologist by profession, he graduated from Liaquat Medical College in 1971 and obtained FRCS from Glasgow (1980) and FRC Ophth from UK; trained as fellow at King Khalid Specialist Hospital in Pediatric Ophthalmology, worked at senior teaching position in the Department of Ophthalmology at King Faisal University, Dammam, Saudi Arabia where he developed postgraduate program in ophthalmology and taught at the under as well as post-graduate levels; examiner of fellowship programs & undergraduate medical programs of various national & international colleges; has published several papers in international journals and supervised dissertations; participated in numerous national and international conferences, workshops and seminars; organized and chaired a number of national and international symposia. He is member of several national and international professional societies.

His major achievements include organization from scratch of the Blindness Prevention Program at the national and international levels in 35 countries of the world whereby nearly more than 2.5 million free services in the form of eye checkups, medication, free glasses and more than 200 thousand surgery for restoration sight have been performed. His services have been appreciated both at the national and International levels. He has received, Awards and Honors such as, (1) Citation from Pan-Arab Conference of Ophthalmology in 1995 at Morocco, for his outstanding contribution to eye care services to the international community, (2) Citation from the International Convention of Overseas Pakistanis for Service to Pakistan in 1995, at Islamabad, (3) Pakistan Engineers Forum Award in 1995, at Saudi Arabia, (4) Sindh Graduate Association Silver Jubilee Award in 1997 at Karachi, (5) Liaquatian Life Time Achievement Award in 2001 at Hyderabad, (6) Governor's Nominee as Eminent Person on Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences Syndicate, 2007, (7) Saudi Opthalmological society award for prevention of Blindness in 2003 at Riyadh.

Dr. Kazi is the driving force in establishing the Foundation. He was responsible for pursuing the founding members to come together and financially contribute towards realization of the dream of model social welfare and education institution in the form of the Foundation and Isra University. He was elected as the first president. Since then he is enjoying the support of his colleagues and continues to work as the President & Chief Executive of the Foundation and the Director of Isra University Project. He is a Founding member of the Foundation and currently serving on the Board of Directors of the Isra Islamic Foundation.
